Each year the festival is hosted by many cities internationally to organize a qualification of the best local achievements.

The different categories that candidates can compete in are:
Animated Film - maximum 15 minutes
Fiction - maximum 15 minutes
Documentary - maximum 17 minutes
Performance -maximum 7 minutes
No maximum duration for films out of competition.
Films in foreign languages will have to be subtitled in French.
